School was canceled today not because of snow but because of -40 windchill “issues.” This is a major improvement from the first year that I worked at my current school. At that time our representative from the board of trustees had some “old-school” values that prevented her from making the call to shut down the school. Her beliefs were firmly rooted in cows. If a cow could survive it, so could a child. While I do admire such a structured paradigm for life, it gets pretty fucking cold here. I still reel at the fact that I live in a place where it gets to be -40 and my life is, albeit occasionally, dictated by cows.
In other cold front news, because I am home today I’m doing annoying, yet necessary, tasks like marking and bathing the dog. Oh, the stupid dog. Moments after his bath he felt compelled to go outside. He’s just now come back in, 3 minutes later, and appears to be crippled. Perhaps he’s just trying to empathize with his new roommate/soulmate/bedmate, Rupert, who is missing a paw. We’re picking him up on Friday. I wonder if cock-fighting can be done with toy breeds as well?

Well it could be like the lower mainland, once the snow stops to fall the whole city shuts down.
Fun.
So Cheyenne, I just wanted to tell you we are now three…. after a very stressful very long story that I won’t get into right now, we now have a little Sophie Noel Chipman who fits into our arms, and family perfectly…
Take care
Love always
